Interdependence: East Greenland 2026 A Journey Beyond Words I traveled with Hinoki Travels to East Greenland, flying into the tiny village of Kulusuk. From there, our small group kayaked alongside glaciers, camped for several nights, and spent our days hiking through mountains and landscapes that felt almost otherworldly. Every step I took felt mindful. Every paddle stroke seemed to connect me more deeply to a wildness in nature I had never experienced before. We walked and hiked across the island, among mountains and glaciers, and sat quietly in front of some of the most breathtaking icebergs I have ever seen. But the icebergs weren’t our only companions. Along the way, we were fortunate enough to encounter an Arctic fox and some ptarmigans…unexpected reminders that we were guests in a living, breathing wilderness. There were moments when I simply sat in silence, taking it all in, knowing there really were no words adequate enough to describe what I was experiencing. We were also given a glimpse into the intimate relationship with the land…sampling wild berries and wild thyme, learning about foraging, and enjoying Arctic char caught fresh from the Arctic Sea. What made this journey extraordinary was not simply the spectacular scenery. It was the invitation to slow down, pay attention, and allow the rhythm of the natural world to become my guide rather than simply moving through it. Every day offered another opportunity to listen…to the water…to the wind…to the wildlife, and the silence…noticing what happens when I stop trying to get somewhere and simply allow myself to be present to what is unfolding. Hinoki Travels created an experience I will carry with me for a very long time. East Greenland didn’t just give me memories…it gave me a deeper connection to wild nature, to stillness, and to the kind of presence that asks nothing of the moment except to experience it. I’m grateful beyond words for the opportunity to have walked, paddled, camped, listened, tasted, watched, and allowed myself to be immersed in a world so beautifully untouched by the pace of everyday life. It was an experience I’m still finding the words for…and perhaps that is part of its beauty.

Greenland is truly an amazing adventure! Our small group hiked in places where one may never have previously wandered. We kayaked close to a receding glacier, camped near the sea and a rippling stream, and dined on fresh mussels, cod and ever so tasty Arctic char! The "wee hour" polar bear watches introduced me to a mischievous Arctic fox....and some quiet contemplation of our daily experiences (fortunately, no bear approached us). Bethany's healing yoga (and guided meditation) were great after our long days of stream, (some)snow and glacier crossings. Our guides, John and Jukkum, were fantastic company and so very knowledgeable of our surroundings. I imagine it's an epic challenge to plan a trip such as this; I'm so very honored and happy to have experienced Greenland with Hinoki Travels.

After contemplating this trip for four years!, taking the leap with Bethany at Hinoki Travels was everything I hoped for and more. Exploring East Greenland with a group of 6 women was one of the most beautiful and transformative journeys of my life. We trekked glaciers, mountains, and enjoyed a slow, sustainable, human-powered pace. A major highlight was spotting an arctic fox during bear watch and observing an iceberg from up close! We feasted on foraged mussels, freshly caught cod, and delicious arctic char. Our incredible guides, John and Jukku, kept us safe, shared deep insights into Inuit culture, fueled our awe for the landscape and answered all our questions while having a good laugh. Traveling to East Greenland is not a small journey and you made sure every detail was cared for. We were confortable every day and every night. Bethany, thank you for an incredible, deeply inspiring adventure. You created something far beyond what I ever imagined. Assembling this group of adventurers was a gift, but your vision, warmth, and calm presence are what made it truly extraordinary. Thank you for making this unforgettable.

This was such an incredible trip. Bhutan is majestic and filled with such warm and genuine people. Exploring sacred spaces and the culture and traditions of Bhutan and its people was truly magical. I still find it difficult to put into words the powerful experiences I had. It was the most present I have been for that stretch of time, what a gift. Being able to explore reverence in a deeply spiritual place with a group of heart centered people is unforgettable and will resonate with me forever. So much gratitude for Hinoki Travels, Bethany, and our guides Keunga and Kencho.

This was my first trip with Hinoki Travels - and to Japan! I am incredibly pleased with my experience - from the accommodations to the warm people and unique (delicious!) food. I would never have experienced this part of Japan had I not booked this. My connection with this place and the memories I now have with beautifully kind locals is so beyond special. Thank you, Hinoki team ~ Bethany! Can’t wait to book another one.
